Articles on: For Mentors

How can I update my Mentor profile?

In your Mentor settings, you can update different items:

Your mentor summary

Your summary is the first thing mentees will read when browsing through mentors. It helps them determine if you’re a good match for a mentoring session, so it’s important to make it as impactful as possible.

Make sure to include a (short) summary of your past experiences, and to list several ways in which you can help a mentee.
Other things to consider include:
What are some of the topics that you love to mentor on?
What makes you a good mentor?
Who exactly should work with you?
What challenges are they facing?
Where are they in their career?
What will a mentee get out of working with you?

An example of an impactful mentor bio:
"I am Software Engineer turned Architect turned leader. I love coaching and mentoring engineers and leaders on a wide variety of topics including leadership, communication, change management, and organizational design. I love talking about recruiting, hiring and onboarding, having spent the last year doubling my organization and hiring over 100 engineers. I have enjoyed creating a learning organization. I believe in focusing on what you control, and that we're always competing with ourself yesterday."
